Privacy
How palmap handles your data: no accounts, no ads, and everything you track stays in your browser.
Your progress stays in your browser
Found-marker and pal tracking, UI state and your cookie choice are stored in your browser's localStorage. Nothing is uploaded anywhere; there are no accounts and no server-side database.
Analytics (optional)
If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4, loaded through Cloudflare Zaraz, to see which pages and map features are used - page views, approximate region, browser and device type. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected. Declining changes nothing about how the map works.
Live visitor count
The "online" counter works by holding an open connection while a palmap tab is open, and showing how many such connections exist right now. No cookie and no identifier are involved, and nothing about who connected is logged or saved — the only thing recorded is the total itself, once a minute, so we can see how busy the map is over time. So that nobody can inflate the number, the server briefly holds a scrambled, unreadable form of your network address in memory while your tab is open — never written down, never kept after you leave — purely to limit how many connections one address can add to the total. We also count how often each page is viewed, which outside sites send visitors here, which country a visit comes from, whether it happens on a phone or a desktop, which language the browser asks for, which campaign tag (if any) the link carried, roughly how long the map stays open, and how many connections were counted rather than turned away — again only as daily totals, never tied to a person or a device. It works the same whether or not you accept analytics cookies.
